Merkel cell carcinoma is a rare neuroendocrine skin tumor with an aggressive behavior. The clonal integration of the polyomavirus and UV light can be highlighted in its pathogenesis. Risk factors for development are advanced age, chronic exposure, caucasian type, male gender, immunosuppression. disease prone to rapid progression prognosis unfavorable. In treatment, surgical removal primary biopsy sentinel lymph node, as well adjuvant radiation therapy, particular importance. Among systemic treatments, immune checkpoint inhibitors recommended first line. authors discuss latest European guideline diagnosis treatment.
